Trunk with Hard Bags

Apparently we cannot use both the factory trunk and the factory hard bags. Has anyone looked at alternative means of mounting a trunk that would allow the use of the hard bags.

I have looked for something similar, though not narrowly for the OEM topcase only. There are various alternatives for having a[/a] topcase with the OEM side bags out there, but finding specifics that can be easily duplicated has been tough.

I found one bracket for a Givi/alternative top case to go with the OEM bags... but the poster on that forum gave no links to go with the pictures! It looked to me like it

There have also been hacks involving the pillion seat or cowl, and installing something like a Givi base onto them.

I've been searching on and off for this kind of solution for at least 6 months; I keep hoping that as the N1000 continues to become less rare some aftermarket outfit will come up with a solution, or maybe a given user will post their developed product online so at least a guy could fabricate something in imitation. So far nothing.

If you find something, please post it here! :p

Givi makes a top case and side bag mounting set-up but I don't think it will work with the 2014 and up smaller side cases.

It involves somme cutting you told me right?
enlarging two holes
Ventura Products' pieces for the N1000.

I imagine the TopBoxRack TBR13/19/B is the one being discussed here?

Anyone have any pictures of what it looks like installed?
Check my posts. I've ordered and received them already. However, There is a sticker that says "do not use as a back rest." It seems like it's for luggage use only but my personal agenda of having a top box is to have luggage and a backrest.

I think I will just suck it up and buy a whole givi system and try to sell my oem saddle bags here.
angelo112233: I've got the same goal. The Ventura rack might be a decent solution, but that top rack looks a little too high, and a little too far off the pillion/cowl for me to feel it is entirely suitable.

Did any of your posts have pics? I looked through them but didn't find any.

If anyone can point me to pics of the full GIVI on the N1000 I'd appreciate it.

I found this image via search but haven't been able to confirm the actual products involved. In addition, the page associated with this image (at least according to Google's Image Search) contains this comment: "I'm a little disappointed that the SW Motech sidecase mounting hardware isn't compatible with the top-case mounting rails either."

This page on a different forum indicates that older years (looks like pre-2012) had some solutions, but I'm looking for systems for 2014 or later models of the bike.
The existing solutions are not optimal, IMHO. I'm still waiting for something better to come along. There is a possible solution, but it would take some fabrication to build it. Kawasaki could, of course.

Notice how the 2015 Versys 1000 top case is attached. Notice the grab handles on the Versys that mount the OEM saddlebags -- the same bags as those on the N1K -- have attachment points drilled into the ends for an OEM rack. That could be done to the custom grab rails that come with the OEM saddlebags and replace the original grab handles. They are a different design, but by drilling and tapping two holes on each side in their ends someone with skills could fabricate an adaptor. With those mounting points (and maybe a secondary support on each side), a rack could be put in place to hold a top case. Maybe even the Kawasaki case, or at least a GIVI plate and case. I half-way thought maybe Kawasaki would do that for the 2016 N1K and it would retrofit to the 2014 and 2015 models.

Still waiting.

I have the OEM side cases on my 2014. According to Max at Ventura, "our system will work with the factory bags but if you order online make sure it is L-Bracket # K109/B as the K100/B will NOT work with the bags."

Thanks for the lead, Old Fart.
