Regulator/Rectifier Issue

2837 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Norskie
Has anyone had any issues with the R/R?? I have HID lights on mine and they shut off when the bike is off. After some checking, the battery is receiving 12v when in idle, but it goes as far as 17-18v when revd...

I ordered a replacement from Ricks Motorsports and I'm waiting on it to replace it... I hope this solves my issue!!!

Any thoughts?

Follow me a second...Lots of peopel switched the regulator rectifier on the sv 650 due to it being a POS. The model they replaced it with was from the Honda cbr100rr. Heres a link;

Why not use that rectumfrier, I mean, well you know... on yours? It might be better than even a new original one? Its probably cheaper. Soldier in your stock connectors, and it will look original.

yOU ARE ABSOLUTLY RIGHT!!! My bad, I meant they go off when the bike is on and it's reved....
One of the symptoms of rectifier/regulator malfunction is headlight going out, then gauges, then the power to the bike. It does sound like you could have some of the early symptoms. I have the rectifier go out on my VFR, at night, on busy highway. Luckily, my flashers still worked until I made it to the shoulder of the road.
Well guys, I just wanted to update you on my R/R issue... I replaced it and it solved the problem!!!
glad to hear it was a relatively easy fix.
So...did you remove your HIDs so you don't kill another r/r?

How do HIDs kill R/R's ?
