Ok, so I've pretty much decided to get a 2014 Ninja 1000. While I was up in the frigid northern U.S., I saw a 2014 (blue) in a dealership. Priced at a very nice $10,699. Well, seeing how it was too cold to ride it the 1200 miles home (and it was snowing up there), and I want a green one, I figured I'd just pick one up down here in south Louisiana.
Go to my preferred dealer. Oh, he's not going to order any because he's pissed off at Kawasaki and how they make him buy bikes he doesn't want, waa, waa, etc. etc. Go to another local dealer -- they've ordered two, but have no clue when they'll get them. They don't even bother to ask my name or take a number to call when one comes in. I go to the website of another dealer who is about 90 miles away. So I do the internet inquiry thing, specifically asking about the 2014 Ninja 1000. Absolutely no response. Another dealer - also about 90 miles away in a different direction, says they don't know if they'll be getting them, or when !!??
I don't get it. It seems that dealers up north, where people can't ride in the winter, are getting Ninja 1000s, but the dealers down here can't or won't get them until spring !!?? What??
I already know, from past experiences with my local dealers, that if I buy the bike out of state, they'll ***** that I didn't get it from them, and they'll put my bike at the end of the line for service.
Maybe I'm just ignorant, but all this doesn't seem to be a great way to run motorcycle dealerships.
Rant over. Thanks for reading to the end (or skipping to the end).
