Thanks Santa :)

I think this will make the gears last just a bit longer :)

I'm doing mine once I get to Florida where the bike is. Leaving later today. Lot's of mods to keep me occupied. Post up how sprocket change went please.
I can't post the effort because I had the local shop do it (it was so cheap it wasn't worth me screwing it up)

I can post to the result. Both my brother and I have 2014 N1K's. We both did the supersprox.com front 16 tooth (cst1537-16) sprocket (25 bucks).

The idea was to make the gears useful in this bike and to decrease rpm at 70-75MPH.

We succeeded! The bike goes from frenetic shifting to torquey smooth. Not an exact description. Both of us noted that we didn't even try to shift into that phantom 7th gear! Low speed drive-ability is exactly what you think- lower rpm and enjoyable. Each gear feels like it has a purpose instead of just a temporary stopping point before you shift again.

We also noticed no measurable drop in acceleration. If anything the bike gets to spend an extra few tenths in each gear which means less shifting and more on throttle time.

This mod is so perfect that we both are scratching our heads as to why Kawi didn't do this from the factory. I don't think we will change out the rear! this drops top gear rpm by about 500rpm, so less highway buzz. We are more sport twistie riders and go out of our way to avoid highways, but its nice to now have a 7th gear ;)

Now you'll need a speedo healer.

This will be my next mod here in a couple weeks.
I am thinking that the speedo is more accurate now, given all the sloppy optimism of the factory units. I will use a gps and let you know.

I am getting a healtech indicator though.
Gary,
Based on your post, I'm seriously considering this mod. Do you mind if I ask how much the shop charged to install the sprocket?
Unless you have some seriously strong 1/2 breaker bars and a 27mm socket, you wont do this yourself.

That front sprocket nut is very tight from the factory. I ended up needing a 36 inch breaker bar, and could have used more leverage. If the shop is charging anything under 50 bucks, its worth it. Maybe even more. Mine was almost impossible to break loose
Heavy duty electric impact wrench was needed to brake mine loose.

Well the shop misquoted me on the phone and fulfilled the task for $41. It is much less than 1 hours labor. 41 was a no brainer, it should have been $73.
Ok Gary, I ordered my sprocket today. Dealer quoted me $50 to install it. I'll post results once it's installed. Looking forward to it!
You are going to love it!

Congrats!

Got the sprocket installed this morning. Only rode the bike home (about 15 miles) but noticed a big difference. I don't know how accurate the speedo is now, but at an indicated 50 mph, I saw about a 350-400 rpm drop in 6th gear. I've got some "connections" with a radar gun so as soon as I can I'm going to have my speedo checked against radar. I'm happy with the change. I'll know more when I can put some miles on it.
changed mine saturday...100 miles on sunday....great change... I installed the OEM rubber center 16T from the 06-09? ZX 10 ithink??? $35 for the oem sprocket at the dealer......did not change the back sprocket...perfect now...

So Gary, the stock sprocket is 15 teeth, and you went up to 16?
Might do this myself. Chain length ok ?
Interesting....

I'm not Gary but I can answer your question. Yes, 16 tooth and no issues with chain length.
Speed

I have read nothing but praising comment about replacing the front sprocket with a 16 tooth unit. Is there any change to the acceleration of the bike when throttle is applied full on. I have a stock 2014 model. Thanks for any comments.........
I think it will cost you a tenth in the quarter mile. But really the bikes gears are so short that 3-4 were useless. The acceleration is still the same by feel. It is just requires less frenzied shifting.
I want to do the 520 conversion but can't find a company that has the parts. I know they are out there because I've read reports of it being done. I've sent a lot of emails to sprocket manufacturers but nobody is replying. Does anybody know if the ZX10 or Z1K is the same fit as the N1K? Considering all the bikes I've owned this one is by far the hardest to get aftermarket parts for.
