On Saturday, I traded in my Raider and ZX6R for a new blue Ninja 1000 ABS with bags, and a Ninja 650 for my girl (she had a Ninja 250, which will now be my spare toy). I'll miss those bikes forever, but I was really looking for one bike that could do everything, and somewhat comfortably.

Welcome Trader Sock
Sounds like you will have a complete ninja family. One for papa bear, one for mama bear and one for baby bear.

What's your impression of the 650. I had the 300 and didn't want another v twin. One reason was the sound.

I took a 2012 650 out on a demo ride at a bike show in 2012, and was very impressed. The Kawi reps let us get up to 85mph on the backroads of Carlisle, PA. It was the first sport bike I had ever ridden, so I was happy with the taller gears and handling. When this rain finally clears up, I'll take the new one for a spin. Since the 650 is a parallel twin, I'm not sure how the sound compares to v-twins and inline 4s.

My mistake, the Ninja 300 is a parallel twin. With a slip-on, I just remember the sound was not race inspiring. At cruising speeds, it was headache inducing. If you want a mid size sport bike with an inline 4, you could take the FZ6R. I couldn't get past the cosmetics.
