So this just arrived today. Bought from:

https://iconicparts.uk/shop/ols/products/kawasaki-ninja-z1000-sx-gpsphone-mount

Ordered on 8/23,
Dispatched on 8/24,
Departed UK on 8/25,
Sat in US Customs until 9/3,
USPS delivered today 9/7

Quality looks good and fitment is proper between the windshield and windshield mounts. They ship longer bolts to replace the stock mounting bolts, in case they are needed.

I’ve got an AMPS ball mount on the way, (should be here tomorrow), and then I’ll post up some additional pictures with a vehicle-GPS mounted.

i just need to decide on which motorcycle GPS to get. Been looking into the Garmin Zumo XT, 595LM, 396 LMT-S, and the TomTom Rider 550. I’ve been reading up the related forums and on the web… way too many opinions to really make a solid decision, but if anyone has anything to say along the lines of “DO NOT GET {thisModel}” (and why), I’m all ears.

I am looking at the Garmin Zumo series - Been a Garmin Fanboy for a long time and you also have to consider mounting the device not all devices can be solidly mounted onto that bracket.

I’ve got an old DriveLuxe 50… but uh- it’s got a magnetic mount which I’m not sure if trust on a bike at speed, plus it’s not weatherproof by any stretch of the imagination.

This (pic) is what is coming tomorrow and should mate up without issue.

My main goal is to be able to mount the gps enough above the dash meter, such that I don’t have to have the windshield completely vertical- which means I’ll likely end up using a RAM ball extension arm.

My GPS of choice is a FodSports unit from China. I've been using them for about 10 years now. The early models used a Microsoft Windows CE operating system, but over the last 2~3 years they have moved over to an Andriod operating system. Basically, it is a water-proof phone that does not make phone calls.

I turned my first one into a brick when I attempted to hack Windows. The second one was replaced after 7 years when the screen started to de-laminate, and my third one is still going great.

It connects to my Sena headset via Bluetooth and I can use my home's Wi-Fi to downlaod Android apps from the Google Playstore, and I can also hot-spot connect it to my phone and access the Internet as I ride along. Warning, watching pornhub.com while riding is a safety hazard. (don't ask how I know)

At the moment, I have iGo 9.6 & Waze as my navigation software, but I also have Google Maps loaded. It even comes with a 12 month warranty, but that requires sending it back to China, so it is probably easier to throw it away and buy a new one if it develops a fault.

Did I mention it's best feature ?? All this for $US150 including the latest maps.

I have the Rider 550 and it works as advertised. Being in the US you do not get the same level of support as you do in Europe. Also your phone doesn't integrate as well as with the Garmin (if you are interested in that). Overall I like the unit and price.

So here is that windshield mounting plate with the above RAM Mounts Ball Adapter with AMPS plate attached, currently with the Quad Lock adapter mounted. Eventually I’ll get a GPS mounted here instead

This is with the short arm extension and I had to raise the windshield 1 notch due to the brake reservoir hitting it at full left lock

I have a medium arm extension on the way which should resolve this without having to raise the windshield. I’ll see what happens when it arrives. So far I am pleased.

If you want to see more pics or different angles, just say so and I’ll accommodate.

Please a few side shots of the mount area / adapter for quadlock would be great. Looking at option with quadlock antivibrate and wireless charge fitting at that location

Just a follow-up… the Medium Arm Extension did the trick and allows the brake reservoir to completely clear everything about this mount, from left lock to right lock.

Now when get around to replacing this with a GPS unit… hopefully the clearance is still good… else I’ll have to go with the Long Arm Extenstion.
