I am finally pretty much at peace with my seat. I am finally to the point where I no longer think about it. The foam has broken in nicely and I am it doesn't punish me at all. I still should have made the nose a touch higher.

I want to rip the gel from my kawasaki gel seat and replace with good foam. I wonder what I should use, and where to get it?

Well, I stuck a gel pad I extracted from my old Hayabusa spare seat under the vinyl cover of my Laam seat and it's feeling good. For now. Time and miles will tell. Years ago I had a couple of Hondà Superhawks that had seats that bugged me but I kept them around for 9 years because I liked everything else about riding them more than I disliked the seat. I think I'm in the same boat with the Ninja

2weelz - what part of NorCal are you in? You are welcome to try my seat when I am back in the area with it. I'll be in the Bay Area in about 2 weeks or so.

Downside for me with gel is it gets very hot in the summer if left uncovered. In general I like memory type foam better as well.

Hate to be negative, but on my 2011 I used the OEM gel seats and they did not work for me.

No, you are not being negative. I already have the seat, and the gel is awful. HOT in the summer and extra cold in the winter. AND, its not comfortable.

Otherwise a great seat. LOL The cover is nice, so I am going to rip the gel out and replace with something else.

I used a pair of fully padded riding shorts yesterday for about 120 miles and got the numb rear end about half way through. Took a break, got the feeling back and got numb again about 20 minutes from home.

I have read all these threads and it looks like no replacement seat helps very much and it is a toss up between the OEM Gel and the Sargent.
Leathers are hard to do in Dallas right now with heat. The ZX-14r Seat was much better than this and wider at the rear.

So anyone overall happy with one of the above seats?

I just finished an 1800 mile trip, 300 mile days with the OEM gel seat and an Airhawk seat cushion. I was very pleased overall. The OEM gel is OK for a day or two, but the Airhawk makes a huge difference on long trips.

Thought i would drop this nugget. Long story short, tried various seats and went back to the factory one. Key was to place 2 10lbs dumbells on the seat for a week to break in the foam. Since that point it is now nice and soft.
