Hi
Do I need to buy mini spools for tje 2023 to clear the exhaust or standard size is not an issue. On my 2016 i needed mini spools or the muffler would hit it.
Any links to what you bought and suggest?

Thanks Jed

I have the Oxford spools that rotate as I find them easier to use. I can’t figure out why Kawsaki put the spool mounts so far forward. Look at the comparison with two of my other bikes ( pics below). On my 2012 I could only use small spools or the rear wheel would
interfere with my stand (Pit Bull). I have some other stand supports that just go under the swingarm wherever you want. I may go back to those for the SX.

I had normal mini spools like your ninja 1000 photo shows. At some point a forum member sold me a set of Sato Hooks.

The Sato Hooks are great, but they move the lift, or "spool" location more towards the back of the bike than the m

ini spools were mounted. It's probably an inch, or so.

Using the same stand, I swear the stand was easier to use. It was as if the bike lost weight when the lift spot went towards the back of the bike.

I can't figure out why Kawasaki didn't put a center stand on a chain slapper with the word "touring" in it's category description but, here we are...
It does seem that further back would give a little better access to the chain for lubing, though, especially on the '11-'19's stock mufflers.

They could have added just the mounts and sold us the center stand for 329.00.

That's what doesn't make sense. I had several bikes that had center stands. I removed them and used as needed. With a center stand, you don't need a front stand so 329.00 would have been well worth it

I'm sure this stand is too long, but I believe the frames are similar enough to where the mount system would work. If that was true, it would be easy for them to offer this on the newer bikes with a single exhaust.

Yessir. I looked long and hard at the Versys stand trying to figure out if it would work on the Ninja. Aside from being too long there was interference with the exhaust as well. I decided it was beyond my capabilities to work it out and gave up. But I'm dreading the time I get my next flat tire on the Ninja and it won't stand up on the side stand. Thank goodness flats seem to be fewer and further between than they were a few years back.

I've never found the need to remove a center stand but I have done some surgery to keep the tang from sticking out so far. Sometimes I think the designers wanted to make sure a 70 pound weakling could lever the bike up on the stand.

BTW, my 1990 VFR750 came without a center stand. Cost me ~$150 (1990 $) to get one. Since I put a left exit exhaust on the bike I had to hack and weld it to make it work but I couldn't imagine living without a center stand then. I'm not up to that kind of mod anymore. We have a welding shop that's pretty creative but I'd hate to buy the stand and have them decide they couldn't make it work. I never did get an estimate for what they'd charge. If Kawasaki offered a $329 center stand accessory for the Ninja I'd be on it in a heartbeat. Given the frame hasn't changed in 12 years on this fairly popular bike and no aftermarket shop (or Kawasaki) has seen to fit to offer one I feel like maybe I'm the only one who wants one.

I don't think most uerstand how good a center stand really is. If you never had the option, how can you know, sort of thing? They would attach in seconds as a temporary stand since you didn't need to worry about the springs.

I've seen people purchase front stands for a Concours 14, for instance. Never a thought as to the bike basically bei g supplied with one.

True. I was going to ask if anyone has tried to retrofit a H2SX center stand but looks like frame and body panel differences preclude a reasonable attempt. Not to mention, the breadbox might not be narrow enough either. (Don't have access to a H2SX to measure.)
