Hello All,

I would like to buy the Givi B37 Monolock Topcase - Smoke (B37NTA). Here is the link:
Tech Series : 37 LITER TOP CASE - TECH SERIES

I'm not sure which mounting kit I need to buy for the Ninja with this purchase. The only thing I see on Givi's site is the 4100FZ Monorack Sidearms, but I'm not sure if this would work. Anyone have experience with this?
Ninja 1000 '11-14' : 4100FZ - MONORACK SIDEARMS

Thanks

I went with the SW-MOTECH mounting system from twistedthrottle.com and the PLX V35 side cases in matt black. Gong to have the side case lid covers paint matched to the Candy Cascade Blue at my local body shop. Should look really nice when they are finished.

N-Rocket,
Do the SW-Motech racks work for the '14 N1K as well as the previous years?
I understand that Kawi changed the mounting points for the OEM luggage...didn't know what that meant for the aftermarket racks.

The SW-Motech racks us the same mounting points for the Ninja 1000 11-14 model years. They mount using the supplied hardware using the passenger grab handle bolts, the points on both sides of the bike where the exhaust bolts to the passenger foot pegs and the supplied bracket that relocates the rear turn signals. Picked the SW-Motech racks from twisted throttle.com for $309.99 and the Givi PLX V35 side cases from a 2nd Gear Ebay store in Alberta, Canada for $469.99 shipped. That's cheaper than the $521 to $548 price range I have found in the U.S. , Kawasaki can keep there OEM 28 liter over priced luggage that goes for $1296.00. Robbery!!! That's difference of over $500.00 that I can spend on over things for the bike. I will post a few pics this weekend when I get around to it. Jay

SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock Sidecarrier (Kawasaki Ninja 1000 '11-) Contour Carrier for Givi V35 PLX cases - TwistedThrottle.com
Here's a few pics of the SW-MOTECH racks installed on my 2014 Ninja 1000 ABS with Givi PLX V35 side cases. The SW-MOTECH rack kit comes with plates to cover the holes after relocating the rear turn signals. Installation of the rack system requires you to take apart the entire rear tail section of the bike. I took my time, it was about a 3 hour job start to finish. There is a very helpful video on twistedthrottle.com for the R&G tidy tail kit that goes into great detail on how to take the rear of the bike apart. Very helpful for the SW-MOTECH rack install.

Thanks for sharing the pics N-rocket.
The bags look great and will look even better when you get them color-matched.
I had the Motech racks and Givi bags on my ZX14 and yes, the install does take some time, but lets face it you do want them on there solidly...so taking your time is the right idea.
I notice that you still have the stock exhaust on your bike.

I'm looking at a slightly used 2013 N1K and the previous owner has already put an Akropovic system on the bike, which from previous experience I love, but not sure if the Givi bags will work with them.

Need to do some more research.

Cheers!

Since others have gone on about the racks for the SIDE CASES, but you were asking about the rack for a TOP CASE. I'll give my opinion on the Givi kit for the top case which I have.

The kit you linked is the exact one that I have. But I'm running the B33 Monokey top case. TwistedThrottle or Revzilla would be good places to ask how well that top case would or wouldn't work on your bike with that kit.
The only other thing that you would need is one of these:
-If you go Monolock you need this - Top Case Mounting : M5M MONOLOCK PLATE KIT
-If you go Monokey you need this - Top Case Mounting : M5 MONOKEY PLATE KIT

I took my time, about the install took 1.5hrs, pretty simple, most time consuming part was removing the rear fender assembly.

Hope this helps.

Do you find that loading up the topcase takes enough weight off the front wheel to be detrimental to handling?

I hardly notice it back there. It may be because of all the years of riding 2-up or Givi's design makes it unnoticed or both. But I can't really notice any difference in handling.
Just wanted to throw my two cents in. I went with the givi fz4100 topcase mounts and the givi easy lock side racks. They are compatible with each other and with patience fit nicely.

Looks good. What's your opinion of the Givi side cases and mounts?
I like the cases. Theyre a hybrid type- semi rigid and somewhat soft. They secure very tightly in the racks. Now the mounting racks look pretty industrial when the bags are off but they are functional.
