That is, you'll notice it's cranking slower and slower long before it gets to the point of failing to start the bike.
All bets are off if it's been abused, e.g. allowed to run completely flat.
A garage check, if you have a meter: After returning from a ride of at least 20 minutes, shut the bike down and in a couple minutes measure the voltage at the battery. It should read 12.7-12.8VDC. Let it sit for 2-3 days and measure again and it should still read >=12.5VDC and should stay that way for a few weeks.
Speaking of batteries...
I can't believe my lawn tractor started right up after 6 months of winter in a un heated shed. I was getting ready to run an extenion cord out to the shed, I said what the heck might as well try to start it before I run the charger out to the shed. Started right up.
I know... who cares. LOL!

doubt your dirt bike had a tenth of the power draw the street bikes have. Allot of shit going on.

You guys both really nailed the issue ktm has. They build street bikes as if they are dirt bikes. No "extra" No extra strength or overbuilding happening. I don't think I could take a new 1290 and remove 35 lbs from it like i did with my ninja 1000. Also like the Italians they ar not at all afraid of using their customers as the test department.

Kawasakis kx450f is almost up to the ktm level, for 2019. Its still 10 lbs heavier, but at least its in the same discussion. Suzukis 450 is at least 10 years behind and maybe more.

I still think the KTM 450 could beat the ninja 1000 in a 1/8 mile race. Granted the KTM would have to be in the dirt and the Ninja on pavement. Never mind what it could do to any 400 street bike. I am a big guy and when on the throttle of the KTM I have to lay on the bars in the 1st three gears. I think I am talking myself into a new KTM for the fall in New Hampshire.

Lets face it... we all go through changes. Right now I am not feeling the road bike for some reason. Could be traffic and the amount of deaths. Not sure. But, right now the trails are calling me back. But, I do reserve the right to change my mind LOL! I think of bikes like women before I was married. It is fun to try different things. I am sure if I get back to road bikes the zx 14 is on my bucket list. As far a dirt bike riding Google Jericho mountain. The state of NH has agreed to let dirt bikes, atvs, snow mobiles use the roads to access different trails, gas, pizza, beer, what ever, for a five year trial period.

MarkOne there a lot of dual sport bikes and dirt bikes on the road down here, you run into them in packs, they ride them to the mountains then go off road, the are enjoying the best of both worlds.
