Just picked up my 2017!

Recently picked up a used (like new) ultra low miles 2017 Ninja 1000. Iím loving it! Thought Iíd join up here and see what good info I could get and share. When I picked up my Ď17 she only had 450 miles on her and was totally stock. After the 600 mile service Iíve begun the mods.

Got your good info right here: The 2017 (& 18 & 19) service manual.

I find it handy when tearing into the bike.

So far: Motodynamic Fender delete kit, and their Sequential tail light. TechSpec Tank Pad and Tank Grips. Kawasaki frame sliders, and Crankcase protector kit. Iíve also ordered the Kawasaki 8 liter soft top case so I can actually have the capability/excuse to run errands on the bike.

Iím a returning rider, and when I say that I mean returning from way on back... decades. Last time I rode regularly I was a teen. Coming back after all this time I was little intimidated, but determined. A couple months back I took the MSF course, passed the tests etc. I started looking for a bike, not even considering a 1000. I figured I better ease back in on a Ninja 650, although I checked out some cruisers too. Then I had the opportunity to ride a Ninja 650 and a Ninja 1000 back to back. The 1000 was so impressive I knew that was the bike for me! Itís amazing looking, has loads of power, is easy to ride, and has the electronic nannies a returning rider might find a bit comforting. I ride it on F ďFullĒ Power Mode and KRTC Mode 2 so far and itís great. The throttle is easy to manage and the bike feels pretty nimble for its size. So far I have zero regrets and get nothing but compliments on the bike! To me the Ninja 1000 is an all around great bike for the money.

Welcome. I started riding after a gap of 10 years and started with the 650. Before 6 months was up, I was looking for an upgrade. I think a good decision to go with the 1000. Nice color and nice car too...

Thanks for your opinion and the compliments agurudev. The car is a 2019 2SS 1LE Camaro, in Riverside Blue Metallic.

After riding the N650 I felt as though it would probably not take me long to want a larger bike with more power. I also had the opinion of a friend who had been riding for a long time who told me I should just go for the 1000. When I first sat on the Ninja 650 and Ninja 1000, the 650 wasnít intimidating at all, and felt a little small, but the 1000 (being bigger, taller, and heavier) felt just slightly intimidating. Once I had it on the road the intimidation faded, and now Iím so glad I went for it.
