Hey rcannon409, I live in Millcreek, name's Mark. I have a 2016 ninja 1000, I've owned a bunch of bikes in the past. If you're ever working on your bike on the weekend, lemme know and I can stop by and say hi (I think you live in the SLC area). I live in an apartment so I keep my bike outside, covered with 2 disc locks and 2 chains. I'm thinking I'll pull the ecu out soon and send it off to Ivan.

    Hi Roland
    Happy Thanksgiving to ya,,,.
Gotta a couple of winter projects so feel free to answer if you can and at your convenience,,.

    On that air-box mod?
Do I understand that the new air that's getting to the intake after the modification is unfiltered air that doesn't go through the air filter?

And what are the advantages with this mod for a 16?

Did I hear it changes the intake sound of the bike?

    Regards
    Lyle,,.

    Hey Rcannon,

Seems you have a lot of knowledge concerning our Ninja 1000 and are more than willing to share it with the rest of us on the forum.

I just finished the clutch switch repair and wanted to thank you for your tips on this, specifically the use of a soldering iron to heat up the screws before attempting to remove them. Nice trick.

Thanks again and if you are ever near central Kentucky feel free to look me up. We do have some really good roads around here.

    Best Regards........John.

He specified in his video it was for 11-13....so he safeguarded his instructions....

everything else stays in the rubber isolater....and there's no way I could fit my hands in there and get the ECU out without dropping the tail...but it was simple after that...and only the ECU needed to come out...

Hey mate sorry to be a pain. I'm Matt. I'm new to the forum and loving all the advice you guys have to share. In Australia not many people really play with our bike. Most owner are old on newer models with traction an what not. I love the feeling that a real bike give you, without all the electronics. I must admit I like the abs. It sounds like you have most of the mods that I want to do already on your bike. How long did you run the bike stock before you started to play with it. Have you had any dramas with the bike and what did you find needed to be upgraded? I in two minds at the moment on weather I do brakes and suspension or headers and pcv.

Thanks for your message over on the other forum Roland. I've been over here for a while, ever since DickThing got on my last nerve. It's too bad, that forum was great until he showed up. This place is not the same. Good to hear from you, hope you're well.

I know what you mean RC, it looks like you could leave it out, especially if you have ivans flash. I dont know if by completely removing it, it could lean the bike out, but if you have ivans flash it should be all right, i wander if ivan ever tested one with the plate removed, also im wandering if the holes cause a venturi effect when the air comes through the plate, thats what im betting on. Most people say they cant tell a difference. But when i put in that new plate and 2014 air filter i could tell and feel a big difference, it would not lift the front wheel as effortlessly as it does now by rolling on the throttle.i might give ivan a call and see what he says about removing the plate completely.

Also, I am a little confused because when I go to Scotts Performance website, they don't seem to list a product for the Ninja 1000.

Which one did you get to work on your bike?

    Mine is a 2014.

    Thanks,
    Troy

    Hi,

I was wondering how your Scott's Steering Damper was holding up and if you had to do it over ... would you buy it again?
Thinking of getting one for track days and bumpy mountain twisties, etc.

As always, I really appreciate your willingness to share your experience.

ps. Scott's Performance website does not list a the Ninja 1000 ... which product # did you get to work with your bike? Mine is a 2014 btw
