Cool Fit Yoshimura single slipon to N1K

Hello everyone!
Someone may find this interesting: I bought used Yoshimura with pipe from GSXR 1000 K5/6 ($140-ebay) and Y-pipe to remove the middle can($83-AliExpress or $95 ebay). Had to cut left side of the Y-pipe and plug it with 1-7/8 in aluminum Plain Dome Post Cap - $0.45 from HomeDepot(online only) and original clamp.
Also, you have to cat about 3-4" from the Gixxser's pipe and as you can see I got a single side exhaust with great sound (catalytic I removed earlier). Whole project costs about $235 and 2 hours work.

I like it......looks like it was made for the bike. That's a good sized silencer, I'll bet sound level is reasonable, too?

Igor, are your sure your not bullshitting us? It looks like it was made for the bike. Nothing worse than when soemoen does this, and the fit is poor.

The only drawback I can see is the cost of the cat eliminator piece. It looks like thats about 100.00, on ebay. For 175, you can get a Chinese header? Then again, who knows what the headers quality is like.....

You can get cat eliminator for about $70 from aliexpress, Chinese header - I am not sure if the sound will be different, otherwise is just a waste of money for me, also, I don't trust Chinese manufacturers either metal type they use nor fitment. My goal was to get the best sound(for me, of course) with a minimum temperature raise of my wife 😁.
Because I loved sound of my gixxer 1k k6(sold 1ya) with similar slip-on I bought it on ebay from a seller who accepts returns , it fits with a little bit of tension. I have to mention that it doesn't sound like a gixxer but has very nice sound too

The problem ( if this is even a real problem)with using the stock header is the header tubes are too small. If a person is not concerned with power, that's fine, but using the stock header means a loss of 10-15 horsepower vs an Arrow or an Akra header.

No idea what the spec is on the Chinese header. It's possible they copied Akra, and made the tubes larger...no.one knows until we see one.

Just having larger tubes though isn't enough to make the right gains. Might gain up top but sacrifice low and middle. There's definitely a science to designing a proper tubular exhaust header for sport bike engines that delivers REAL gains across the board. The factory already has a very good header system given it also has to pass exhaust and noise emissions, as well as packaging constraints. It's not easy to outdo that because a "better" header has to also come with a good tune to take advantage of it. Akrapovich, Yoshimura, Two-Brothers, are one of those manufacturers that do their homework when they release a header system.
