Comms: just to talk to daughter

Hey all, I'm looking to get something cheap that will let me talk with my daughter when we are riding together. She's 8yo and loves to go on rides. What would be the best cheaper choice just for us to talk while riding?

I've looked at Sena s20 since I like music, but the lack of waterproofing makes me think it's just going to get ruined by me doing something dumb. So, I go back to, buy something cheap for the few rides we do together.

Thanks all!

I have a Sena 10s and I haven't had any trouble with it over prolonged use. I do have trouble with people with other brands though but maybe that won't be any trouble for you.

What a cool topic, and thanks for bringing it up.

I ride with my granddaughter, today. She's ridden with me since she was 2. We started, offroad, as soon as the exhaust noise did not scare her.

We have a code we speak in. Hand signals. A punch to the right side means a police car.

I like your idea better.

Punch to the side is ice cream. I think you misread!

Just person to person for me is good enough. I don't ride in groups often enough to care. I'll check out the Sena 10s on some forums. Likely can find used ones.

Been using a SENA for more than 5 years, even in the rain. So do most of the people who ride around here. Only ever heard of one getting waterlogged

I went with the Cadillac of headsets - the Sena 20S. I can't recommend it enough. I chose the 20S because of some of the extra features. The big one being how big you can string the group ride together.

The 10S is a solid unit and will do exactly what you're asking for.

Some of the cheaper models, I hear complaints about them loosing connection and not giving good quality sound.

Same here. I've never removed mine in the rain although I do try to ensure the rubber plug for the USB port is seated correctly.

My riding buddies and I have been using the SENA 20s for about 3 years. I've ridden in heavy rain several times on extended trips with this unit. Two of us were once caught in pouring rain on the Interstate in traffic -- heavy road spray from vehicles and semis -- again without any problem. In those situations, knowing what other riders were doing, kept us safer. None of us have had one moment of problem among the multiple units because of wet weather.

Here is the link to a set that's cheap, but works well. Biggest problem I had was attaching to the helmets, but I got it to work. Worked well on a trip with my son. You can have some great conversations while cruising on a bike. I now have nolan helmets with the n-com system that is completely integrated, and I love it. Hope this helps.

Sena had a Fathers Day sale of $381 for the dual set. I screwed up and left it sitting in my Amazon cart. It now $496. Dang!
